IT’S NEVER TOO LATE TO LEARN SOMETHING NEW

VIA

VIA is essentially the Women’s Institute online learning hub. It offers short courses, workshops, and learning resources that WI members (and sometimes non-members) can do online.

The idea is to make learning flexible and accessible, so you can take part from home rather than attending a physical class.

What kinds of things you can learn

Courses cover lots of topics, for example:

Crafts – knitting, sewing, design History & heritage Travel and culture Health and wellbeing Career or personal development Food and cooking Creative writing or art

Many are short video-based courses or live online sessions.

How it works

You go to via.thewi.org.uk. Create a VIA account. Browse courses or search topics. Enrol in free or paid courses. Watch lessons online at your own pace.

Why the WI created it

The WI launched VIA to:

Help members learn new skills Make courses available to people who can’t easily attend local classes Offer modern digital learning alongside traditional WI activities

Red Joan at Denman

7 of us popped over to Denman for a film preview of Red Joan. A fabulous film, shouldn’t be missed, out in a cinema near you on Friday April 19th 2019.

Diane and Lesley do Denman

Diane and Lesley were lucky enough to win a bursary for Denman college. They decided that they would go together and the chose to do an acrylic painting, a course ran by Jonathan Newey. Jonathan is is an award-winning artist with over 20 years of experience in teaching drawing and painting. He specialises in watercolour, acrylic and coloured pencil drawing.
As you can see Diane and Lesley had fabulous fun.
