It was with such sadness we heard that Lesley had passed away on the 17th June 2020.
Lesley joined Wantage WI in June 2017 and she was a very active member joining us on the Scotland holiday in 2018 and she was always one of the first to sign up for the rotas.
Lesley was a physicist and worked at Harwell for many years. She would say she loved homemaking and also liked painting, she did lots of hedgehog pictures quite recently and I am pleased to have a photo of one she did for Liz. It seems very poignant that it was only on Thursday that hedgehogs in the form of Rita’s folded hedgehog and Ann’s bright blue hedgehogs arrived on the website. If you are trying to place Lesley she was the lady who stood up at a WI meeting to explain how we could help the hedgehog by allowing them to pass freely through interlinking gardens.
So I thought in memory of Lesley you could send me your pics of hedgehogs. Photos, paintings, knitted, crochet, whatever and we can share them in this space on the website.
Lesley worked as a volunteer at the advice centre supporting vulnerable people after she retired, which she loved doing. She was a lady who went above and beyond to help people and was a great fundraiser for the British Diabetic Association.
She was a very positive person and throughout her illness she has had the most amazing approach.
Lesley left behind two sons Christopher and James.
Our lovely WI ladies raised £224 for Hog’s Haven in memory of Lesley.
